Energy reaching from the depths of the Black Sea into the future
We continue to work with the same enthusiasm to increase existing production capacity in the Black Sea and to achieve new discoveries.
Energy reaching from the depths of the Black Sea into the future
On 21 August 2020, we made a natural gas discovery of 320 billion cubic meters in the Tuna-1 well. This discovery lies approximately 170 km off Filyos and at a depth of 2,150 meters in the Black Sea. As TP-OTC, following the discovery, we completed drilling in the Tuna-1 well in October 2020. We revised the reserve volume in the well by 85 billion cubic meters, updating it to 405 billion cubic meters.
This was also recorded as Türkiye’s first ultra-deep-water discovery.
In June 2021, with a new reserve of 135 billion cubic meters in the Amasra-1 well, our total natural gas reserves in the Black Sea reached 540 billion cubic meters. In December 2022, following a reevaluation by an independent institution, these reserves were updated to 652 billion cubic meters. In the same period, with a 58 billion cubic meter discovery in the Çaycuma-1 well and a 75 billion cubic meter discovery in the Göktepe-3 well in May 2025, our total reserve volume in the Black Sea reached 785 billion cubic meters.
We continue to operate in the Black Sea with the same drive and utilize 40,000 data collection points to achieve new discoveries and to remotely control the entire system.
Project Significance
Why are we different?

The largest offshore natural gas project worldwide in terms of distance to shore, water depth and reserve size
Türkiye’s first ultra-deepwater production field
The first ultra-deepwater reserve discovery by Türkiye’s national offshore energy fleet
The first natural gas production project realised by Türkiye’s national offshore energy fleet
The world’s first subsea application of advanced electro-hydromechanical technology
Project Phases
Step-by-step towards new achievements
We have planned the development of our Sakarya Gas Field Project in three phases:
