Accident Prevention Policy

The foundations of the Filyos Türkiye Petrolleri Port Accident Prevention Policy have been established to prevent the occurrence of fires and accidents, and to take all necessary measures to avoid harm to people, the environment, and the machinery and equipment used within the facility. Especially during the handling, loading and unloading of dangerous cargo, TP-OTC undertakes to:

  • Give priority in all activities at the facility to completely prevent accidents or minimize risks,

  • Prevent employees from becoming mentally or physically disabled or being exposed to any adverse effects as a result of occupational accidents,

  • Take all necessary measures to ensure that working areas on ships and in the coastal facility are safe and secure for employees, customers, stakeholders and the environment,

  • Follow a policy of continuous improvement to implement the best available technologies to prevent accidents,

  • Take measures to minimize the impact of accidents on life safety, the environment and property by implementing appropriate emergency response procedures in the event of an accident and to apply these continuously,

  • Identify all activities that may cause accidents at the port facility, assess hazards and risks, and take necessary measures to fulfil obligations aimed at preventing such accidents,

  • Assign personnel with appropriate knowledge, skills, training and experience to critical tasks that will affect safety and security in operational business processes,

  • Carry out risk assessments to identify and evaluate hazards and fulfil all requirements to ensure the continuous development of personnel and compliance with relevant national and international legislation and standards,

  • Obtain Safety Data Sheets for all dangerous cargoes to be loaded/unloaded and handled at the port facility and fulfil the requirements of the sheets,

  • Procure the necessary equipment and apparatus to prevent possible harmful effects of the dangerous cargoes in question,

  • Establish the necessary monitoring arrangements to ensure that areas where dangerous cargo is handled are kept under continuous surveillance by relevant facility personnel and/or security officers and ensure ongoing checks of alarm systems,

  • Provide adequate access to and egress from areas where dangerous cargo is handled so that necessary intervention can be made in emergencies,

  • Communicate this Policy to all personnel working within the boundaries of Filyos Türkiye Petrolleri Port, on the basis that implementing this Policy is a fundamental duty for port facility employees.
