Çağrı Bey, one of the deep-water drilling vessels in our energy fleet, departed from Mersin Taşucu Port bound for Somalia to carry out Türkiye’s first overseas deep-water exploration drilling.

The send-off ceremony was attended by Mr. Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, along with his delegation, as well as Somalia’s Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport, Abdulkadir Muhammed Nur, and Somalia’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Dahir Shire Muhammed.

Ahead of the voyage, our President, H. E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, also addressed the crew of Çağrı Bey to extend his best wishes.

Our Minister, Mr. Alparslan Bayraktar, announced that Çağrı Bey, which has embarked on a 45-day journey through the Mediterranean, the Strait of Gibraltar, and the Atlantic Ocean, will start drilling in April at the Curad-1 Well, located approximately 370 km from Mogadishu It is planned that Çağrı Bey will drill at a location reaching a total depth of up to 7,500 metres.
